Father’s Day weekend brings about the typical pressure to buy a variety of things to show appreciation to the dads in our lives. At this stage in my life, I prefer to share experiences with the people in my life as opposed to contributing to the mountains of clutter that us American consumers will inevitably be buried by. Food being my love language, I searched for a restaurant neither of us had been to. I came across Whisk Breakfast and Brunch located in Atlanta on Camp Creek Parkway near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport serving “chef-crafted comfort food, bold flavors, handcrafted sauces, and signature Smokehouse dishes in a vibrant, family-friendly setting.”

We went in the afternoon on the Monday after Father’s Day to avoid both the holiday crowd and the Sunday brunchers. There’s parking in the lot right outside the restaurant and the brick exterior was clean and well maintained. Inside featured natural earth tones accented with a variety of greenery. The ambiance is light, modern, and vibrant. The hostess stand was framed by archways on all 4 sides. There were a decent amount of people inside for a Monday afternoon, and yet we had no wait as the hostess greeted us with a smile and seated us within seconds of entering.

The menu had an ample number of items that caught our attention, but we managed to settle on a few things and each of them was remarkable. To start, drinks. Dad wanted an Old Fashioned, which wasn’t on the menu, but the bartender was a true mixologist and crafted one with a unique flavor Dad had never tasted before. I was thinking about trying the cappuccino, as half of the restaurant is a cafe, but I decided to try the Break-rita instead. It was not a typical margarita, as it featured an orange marmalade, yes marmalade, that gave it a light refreshing twist.

Now, for the food…we shared an order of the smoked wings. Four whole wings arrived piping hot to the table accompanied with a bourbon dipping sauce. The smoked flavor of the wings paired wonderfully with the sauce. These were substantial wings, but it’s important to note the size was not from an excess of fat, this was all protein. Their timing was spot on, just as I finished my second wing, the main courses arrived. The Loaded Breakfast Potato had a presence! Loaded with scrambled eggs, cheese, cajun cream, and your choice of protein. You also get salsa and pico de gallo on the side. Dad’s protein of choice was blackened salmon and overall the Loaded Breakfast Potato was, in his words, “out of sight!”.

As I mentioned, I was eyeing everything on the menu so we shared the Lemon Blueberry Pancakes; the Pineapple Upside Down and Georgia Peach Crumble pancakes were also strong contenders. The pancakes were soft with real blueberries and this lemon curd on top. The blueberry and lemon complemented each other with an even balance of not too tart and not too sweet. In addition to the pancakes I got the All About Me Omelet, which is a build your own omelet. I added cheese, mushrooms, and blackened salmon. One thing that is consistent with this restaurant is that the chef has mastered balancing flavors. The salmon did not overpower the delicate flavor of the eggs and usually I like salsa and sour cream with my omelets, but this one didn’t need either of those. On the side came the cutest little croissant and I got a little fruit bowl. The croissant was so soft with a drizzle of honey and the fruit was actually fresh and ripe.

Overall, Whisk Breakfast and Brunch is doing everything right. There was genuine happiness from the staff. During our visit, I noticed the chef briefly left the kitchen to chat with nearby guests, a small gesture that reflected the restaurant's commitment to hospitality. They delivered exactly what brunch should be: quality food, a welcoming atmosphere, and an experience that encouraged conversation rather than distraction. For anyone looking for a brunch spot suitable for casual meetings, catching up with friends, or just some weekend downtime, it's worth adding to the list. A memorable customer experience is rarely accidental. It is the result of thoughtful leadership, clear systems, and a team that genuinely cares about the people it serves. My dad has already told three of my cousins about it. We will definitely return.
